La Torre Golf Resort Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on La Torre Golf Resort Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:

There is lots going on in Alhama de Murcia this festive period
Programme of events for Christmas and New Year 2024/25
- 5pm: First day of Santa’s Grotto, located in Casa de las Menas, next to Rambla Don Diego, open all month. Special visits for children with functional diversity.
- 10am-1pm: Christmas food collection campaign organised by the Board of Brotherhoods. Location: tent next to the entrance to the Plaza de Abastos.
- 11.30am: Inauguration and Blessing of the Municipal Nativity Scene. Open to visit until Friday January 10, 2025 at the El Pósito Exhibition Centre
- 2.30pm: Meal of migas in honour of San Lázaro Obispo, Patron Saint of Alhama. Avenida de la Constitución
- 8pm: Opening of the painting exhibition of the works of the students of the Formateart Association at the El Pósito Exhibition Centre. Available to visit until Saturday January 4, 2025. Free admission.
- 8pm: Christmas concert by the titular band of the Ateneo Músico Cultural “Maestro José Antonio Ayala” at the San Lázaro Obispo Church
- 11am: Christmas concert by the introductory music band of the Alhama Municipal Music School in the Plaza de la Constitución
- 10am-1pm: Christmas food collection campaign organised by the Junta de Cofradías. Location: Tent next to the entrance to the Plaza de Abastos
- 12pm: Children’s cooking workshop in the Plaza de Abastos
- 4pm: Santa Claus Parade in his sleigh through the streets of Alhama. Route: Avenida de la Constitución, Juan Carlos I, Corredera, Rambla Don Diego and finishing at Santa’s Grotto in Casa de las Menas
- 7.30pm: Christmas Carol Competition. Organized by the Rondalla Aires de Espuña and the “Juan Ogalla” Flamenco Art Classroom. Tickets cost €5 and go towards the Spanish Association Against Cancer. Teatro Cine Velasco theatre.
- 7pm: Christmas Carol Concert to benefit the victims of the DANA in Valencia. Folklore Group “Villa de Alhama”. Velasco Cinema Theatre. Tickets cost €5
- 8pm: Traditional nativity play of the shepherds at the Teatro Cine Velasco
- 8pm: Festival of Christmas Carols of the Choirs and Rondallas of Alhama (2). With the performance of the groups: Singers of Alhama, Musicians of Sonata, Cuadrilla of El Berro, Folkloric Group Villa de Alhama and Cuadrilla de La Costera. Held in the Casa de la Cultura
- 8pm: Festival of Christmas Carols of the Choirs and Rondallas of Alhama (3). With the performance of the groups: String Group of the Senior Citizens Centre, La Edad de Oro, Los Zalameros, Choirs and Dances Virgen del Rosario and Aurora de Alhama. Held in the Casa de la Cultura
- 10am-1pm: Christmas food collection campaign organised by the Board of Brotherhoods. Location: Tent in Plaza de las Américas.
- 11.30am: Christmas parade, with everyone who wants to sing and play, through the streets of Alhama. Route: Departure from Sonata Centro de Música, San Lázaro, La Feria, Juan Carlos I, Constitución, Plaza Constitución and Parque La Cubana (You don't have to be a musician, you can come and join in the singing). Organised by Sonata Centro de Música
- 11.55am: Christmas carols and popular songs performed by La Colla del Rambler in the Plaza de las Américas
- 12pm: Children’s cooking workshop in the Plaza de Abastos
- 7pm: Christmas carol recital by the groups Taller de Guitarra, Laúd y Bandurria del Centro Mayores, Cantores de Alhama and La Edad de Oro. Held at the Centro de Mayores
- 4pm-10pm: Seeing out the year with a special New Year’s Eve concert with live music and DJs. Avenida de Juan Carlos I in the town centre
- 10.30pm: New Year’s Eve dance party, until the early hours of the morning. Lucky grapes and party bags for all seniors who attend the dance, performance by the Duo “La Rueda”. Held at the Centro de Mayores Senior Citizens Centre
- 7pm: Grand New Year’s dance with entertainment by Mónica Lúa. Held at the Centro de Mayores Senior Citizens Centre
- 12pm-8pm: The Royal Pages will collect the letters from the girls and boys for the Three Wise Men. The pages will be at: Puerta del Ayuntamiento, Puerta de la Casa de las Américas and Plaza de Abastos
- Face painting: 1pm in the Plaza de la Constitución; 4.30pm in the Plaza de las Américas; and at 6pm in the Plaza de Abastos

- 5pm: The Three Wise Men will welcome all the boys and girls by giving them a small gift in the Plaza de La Constitución.
- 7pm: Three Kings Parade. The Three Wise Men will parade in Alhama, starting the route in the Plaza de la Constitución and will go through the streets: Constantino López, Plaza del Nazareno, S. Francisco Javier, Rambla Don Diego, Corredera, La Feria, Juan Carlos I and Constitución.
- 11pm: Kings’ Tent, with music and DJs, so that young people can say goodbye to Christmas and the Three Wise Men. Parque La Cubana
- 11am: Representation of the traditional Auto de los Reyes Magos, accompanied by the Cuadrilla de El Berro and the Music School in the El Berro district
- 7pm: Three Kings dance with the Duo JR. The Three Wise Men will give gifts to all attendees. Held at the Centro de Mayores Senior Citizens Centre

Oficina de Turismo de Alhama de Murcia
Alhama de Murcia Tourist information office is located on the edge of the Plaza de la Constitución, just a few metres away from the underground car park and the Town hall of Alhama de Murcia.
The tourist office offers free guided audiotours in English which take visitors around the historical sites of interest in Alhama. These be loaned at any time, although allow an hour and a half to complete the tour, and when loaning the audio equipment visitors are asked to leave passports or ID cards with the tourist office.
The office also carries a full range of leaflets for the archaeological museum of Los Baños, which is built around the historic spa which gives Alhama its name, and the mountains of Sierra Espuña, which is also an important area within the municipality of Alhama. Areas such as El Berro and Gebas have a number of interesting routes which can be followed and there are several picnic areas and good walking routes within the Sierra Espuña natural park.
The tourist office also carries leaflets for the many cultural events and fiestas which take place in Alhama throughout the year, including Los Mayos, Semana Santa, Christmas,the Romería of La Candelaria and the Auto de los Reyes Magos in El Berro.
