Witness the “Acto de la Cortesía” during the Good Friday morning procession in the Plaza Mayor of Yecla

This special tour of Yecla coincides with the Good Friday procession through the streets of the town with participants learning about the sculpted images and tableaux which are paraded in the Plaza Mayor. Information is also offered about some of the curiosities of Yecla’s processions, one of which is the central feature of the visit: the Acto de la Cortesía.

This pivotal moment during the Procesión de la Pasión del Señor is based on old holy texts and features a meeting between the figures of Jesús Nazareno and the Virgen de la Esperanza, accompanied by those of San Juan and María Magdalena.

The visit begins at 10.30 in the Plaza Mayor and lasts approximately 2 hours. It is entirely free of charge but prior registration is required online here. (Please note that in the event of bad weather forcing the cancellation of the procession, the visit will no longer go ahead).
