Centro Cultural Casa de los Duendes Puerto Lumbreras
A multi-use building and exhibition venue in Puerto Lumbreras
The Casa de los Duendes is a cultural centre in Calle Francisco Tirado on the corner with calle Doctor Caballero, and is the only fully restored example of a bourgeois family dwelling remaining today in Puerto Lumbreras.
The building was originally constructed in the 19th century during an era in which successive families invested into improvements into the hydraulic system, using water from underneath the Rambla de Nogalte for irrigation and for power as well as domestic use.
The building has been fully modernised and adapted for a wide number of uses, so currently hosts a number of temporary exhibitions every year, as well as housing the municipal archive and the Colección Museográfica de Grafología Augusto Vels.
It is also used for conferences and has an ausiovisual sala, as well as the graphology museum devoted to the life and work of one of the most influential graphologists in the development of the science. In addition, there is a growing collection of archaeological items found in and around Puerto Lumbreras.
