Revised address details for Mazarrón Consumer complaints office
Consumer complaints can now be registered in the Puerto de Mazarrón and Mazarrón
The Mazarrón consumer complaints office, the Oficina Municipal de Información al Consumidor (OMIC) this week published its annual statistics showing the volume of consumer queries dealt with during 2012, showing 857 consumers were dealt with, 501 of which were consultations and the remaining 356 being complaints.
The services sector is where the highest number of actions were taken, with 746 interventions, which represents 87.05% of the total. Within this section are basic supplies such as electricity, water, gas and butane, gasoline and diesel, fixed and mobile phone services and other similar services. Most interventions in this section were for telephone and telecommunications, with 396 actions, of which 191 were complaints.
Regarding the 356 complaints handled, “45% have arrived at a positive conclusion for the consumer or user of the mediation process.”
OMIC is a free service within the Mazarrón Town Council which covers the entire municipal area. End users can go to OMIC for consumer queries and information to ensure they are equipped with all the information they need to make a claim. This service is only for individuals and not for companies or for persons acting in a business or professional capacity, whether this is private or public.
The service is provided on Mondays, Thursday and Fridays on the 1st floor of the Town Hall in Mazarrón and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the Municipal Library in Puerto de Mazarrón. Times in both cases are from 9.30 to 13.30.
Included in the address map for Mazarrron OMIC is useful information about the Hoja de Reclamaciones, the complaints form which consumers can use should they encounter difficulties in consumer related issues, ie electric bills, phone bills, quality of goods etc.
