Seville showcases its cruise and megayacht push in Miami
The port wants more high-value calls, with luxury ships lined up for Feria week
The Port of Seville has taken its cruise and megayacht offer to Miami, where it joined Global Ports Holding and Ocean Platform Marinas to present its latest plans to the international cruise sector. The aim is clear, to attract more high-quality, higher-value ship calls and strengthen Seville’s position as a distinctive inland destination.A delegation from the Port Authority of Seville, led by president Rafael Carmona, attended Seatrade Cruise Global, the biggest trade fair in the cruise industry. There, Seville presented its offer under the title Port of Seville: A New Approach to Cruise and Megayacht Tourism in the Heart of Andalucía. The event also brought together representatives from the new terminal operators, along with Puertos del Estado president Gustavo Santana and Seville City Council delegate for Tourism and Culture Angie Moreno.
Carmona said Seville is “a very attractive destination for cruise ships and megayachts” thanks to its unique port setting, which allows visitors to arrive in the heart of the city and sail along the estuary to discover the Guadalquivir. He also said increasing the number of port calls and extending the stay of cruise ships and megayachts is one of the port’s priorities.
To achieve that, the port authority has teamed up with Global Ports and Ocean Platform Marinas Sevilla, whom Carmona said will help optimise operations, offer personalised service and shape the future cruise terminal in the Port Urban District.
Angie Moreno described the Port of Seville as one of the city’s great strategic assets, pointing out that Seville is the only inland city in Spain with a seaport. She also highlighted the chance to arrive by cruise ship or megayacht directly into a World Heritage city with a strong cultural, gastronomic and heritage offer.
Feria week traffic
The timing of the Miami presentation comes just as Seville prepares for a busy Feria period. The Azamara Quest will be in the city the weekend before the fair, staying docked at the Tablada Wharf from Friday to Sunday. During Feria week, the Port of Seville expects three cruise ships to arrive.
The Hanseatic Nature will dock at Tablada Wharf on April 19 and has asked to extend its stay until Tuesday of Feria week. On Monday, the traditional pescaíto day, the Clio will arrive and remain until Wednesday. Then on Saturday April 25, the Evrima, a luxury Ritz-Carlton cruise ship, will berth in Seville. The ship is 190 metres long and can carry about 300 passengers.
More ships ahead
The wider 2026 cruise season is already under way, having started on February 26 with the Azamara Journey and due to finish on December 29 with the arrival of the Vidanta World’s Elegant. Around 90 cruise calls are expected in total, including the Belle de Cadix, which is based in Seville.
The port is also expecting six yachts at the Muelle de las Delicias, while two Scenic ships, the Scenic Eclipse I and II, are set to coincide in Seville on May 9 for the first time.
The new terminal is being developed through a joint venture between Global Ports Holding and Ocean Platform Marinas Sevilla. More than €5 million will be invested across the project, with the new terminal planned for one of the historic warehouses in the Port Urban District.
