Murcia to invest €110m annually to tackle poverty in the Region
The three-year plan focuses on education, jobs, housing and health, with 232 measures to support vulnerable families

Times are tough for many people in Murcia, with rising living costs and economic pressures hitting households across the Region. To help, the regional government has approved a new plan to tackle poverty and social exclusion over the next three years, setting aside more than €110 million for each year.
The 2026-2028 Regional Strategy against Poverty and Social Exclusion includes 232 measures, with 140 brand-new projects. The focus will be on cutting poverty, supporting vulnerable groups, and making sure different government services work together more effectively.
Education, jobs, housing, and health are at the heart of the plan. Schools will get extra support to reduce absenteeism and prevent students from dropping out. Job and training programmes will be coordinated between regional and local services to help people who are most at a disadvantage.
Housing measures will help improve living conditions for people in need, while new health measures will make it easier for doctors, hospitals and community social services to coordinate support.
The plan will also set up teams in every municipality that bring together social workers, health staff, teachers, and housing experts to give families practical support.
All actions will consider gender, accessibility, and protection for vulnerable groups. Progress will be tracked with yearly reports, and a full review is planned for 2029. With this plan, Murcia wants to make sure help reaches those who need it most.
