Evening visits begin for the summer at the Roman Theatre of Cartagena
Weekend events at the theatre museum ensure that there is something for all the family!
The beginning of the summer season in Cartagena heralds the first of the 2026 evening tours at the Roman Theatre Museum in Cartagena, by some distance the most popular of all the museums in the Region of Murcia, while other weekend visits continue for all ages, making this a great destination for family outings.
The schedule for the month includes the following tours, visits and activities:
Saturday 13th June – “AULAEUM, ABAJO EL TELÓN”, a dramatized visit beginning at 21.00 in which the great Roman architect Vitruvius (he of “Vitruvian Man” fame!) offers his vision of how a theatre should be while showing visitors around the theatre of Carthago Nova. At the end of the tour there is an unexpected appearance of the stands of the theatre and the classical theatre of Plautus.
The tour continues throughout the summer on 13th and 27th June, 11th and 25th July, 8th and 22nd August and 5th and 12th September. Price 18 euros.
Saturday 20th June – The first holding of “EL TEATRO BAJO LA LUZ DE LA LUNA”, a special after-dark tour of the city of Carthago Nova which includes the Roman Theatre Museum.
The tour continues throughout the summer on 20th June, 4th and 18th July, 1st, 15th and 29th August and 19th and 26th September. Price 12 euros.
Saturdays at 11.00 – An activity for all the family, “ESCIPIÓN VERSUS ANIBAL. COMIENZA LA BATALLA…”, in which participants learn about the most relevant aspects of the Second Punic Wars between the forces of Rome and Carthage and the two most important generals involved, Scipius and Hannibal respectively. Children form a troop or legion, with appropriate clothing provided to lend an authentic touch! Price 4 euros.
Sundays at 11.00 - DEL TEATRO A LA DOMUS DEL PÓRTICO, a tour starting at the Roman Theatre Museum and visiting other places in the old fishing quarter, most notably the Callejón de la Soledad and the remains of the “Domus del Pórtico”. Price 7 euros.
Bookings for all of these events (and others) are available online here.
